About me

Name: Ana Paula Rubenstein (Mrs. Ruby)              Hometown: Sao Paulo, Brazil

Why do I teach Physical Education? I have a natural passion for teaching since I was a little girl. Back in Brazil, I started helping classmates in school with my favorite subject “Portuguese.” In my early 20’s, I taught basic English for lower-income teenagers, and Portuguese for lower-income students willing to enter college. Once I moved to the U.S., I started to teach Ballroom dancing for adults and children, and actually, I teach Zumba, a Latin style group fitness class, for USF students and LA Fitness club members. No matter what the subject, I love to teach and to influence students’ lives positively. For me, becoming a Physical Education teacher is an opportunity to make a difference in students’ quality of life, to help some of them to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and to influence a few to become athletes.
